What does it mean to dream about getting strangled?

it sounds weird, but i had a dream when i walked into a room and there wasnt anything in it, but a floating cloth in the air. so i grabbed the cloth and i got pulled into the air by nothing and started getting strangled, then a guy came into the room and pulled me out of the air and started beating me. then i woke up and i had the feeling that there were hands on my neck. someone please tell me what this means, im freaking out! oh and sorry if the dream is a little violent....
