Is it best to self teach yourself with music or getting a education?

Depends on the person. I like teaching myself though i already knew the basics how to play a piano by watching my friends show off in orchestra class everyday. I think having a teacher will have you learn faster and progress at a steady rate though if your on your own everything depends on you and how dedicated you are to your music. I'm more of a person that likes to do things by myself but my parents want me to get a teacher so i can progress faster. So i''m taking classes in the summer, i'm hoping to be good at piano. Though once my parents bought me one i learnt it was a lot different from typing and texting lol. Though i really like the sound of the piano so i'm deciding to go along with it.
