Do we have to plow up the Republic to sow the seeds of Democracy?

In setting the stage for a transformative government, certain old-fashioned ideas should be put out to pasture. Civil rights need to be encoded in the Constitution not for individual "rights" but for individual equality. Technology and the internet needs to be the new backbone of communication and not the corporate media. As Obama reinvents government, he has to break apart these old ideas and make new ones work. The idea that the economy can be fixed overnight is gone and now we have to dig in and make real change. In other words, you have to destroy to rebuild.
